Let these sugar free chocolate chips cookies shine light on the day. An easy to make classic with a touch of honey and vanilla to fill up the cookies jar.
Who doesn’t love a warm and chewy chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven?
The gooey chocolate chips, buttery flavor, and soft texture make it an irresistible treat. But what if someone wants to enjoy this classic dessert without the added sugar? That’s where sugar-free chocolate chip cookies come in.
When it comes to sugar-free chocolate chip cookies, there are two main types: those that are naturally sugar-free and those that have added sugar alternatives. Naturally sugar-free cookies are made without any added sweeteners, relying instead on ingredients like almond flour, coconut flour, or applesauce to provide a hint of sweetness. On the other hand, added sugar-free cookies use sugar substitutes like stevia, erythritol, or xylitol to mimic the taste of sugar without the added calories.
The idea of sugar-free desserts isn’t a new one, but it wasn’t until the 1970s and 1980s that sugar substitutes started gaining popularity. As more and more people began to worry about the health implications of consuming too much sugar, companies like Sweet’N Low and Equal began marketing their sugar substitutes as a healthier alternative. This paved the way for sugar-free desserts, including chocolate chip cookies.
Nowadays, sugar-free chocolate chip cookies can be found in almost any grocery store or bakery. And while some people may turn up their noses at the idea of a cookie without sugar, the truth is that they can be just as delicious as their traditional counterparts. In fact, some people even prefer them! By using high-quality ingredients and natural sweeteners, bakers can create cookies that are every bit as satisfying as the classic recipe.
One famous person who was known for his love of sugar-free chocolate chip cookies was the late, great Kobe Bryant. In an interview with Men’s Health, Kobe’s personal chef, Lauren Von Der Pool, revealed that the NBA superstar was a big fan of her sugar-free chocolate chip cookies.
According to Von Der Pool, Kobe was always looking for ways to maintain his health and fitness, even when indulging in his favorite treats. That’s why she created a sugar-free version of chocolate chip cookies just for him. She used almond flour, coconut oil, and a sugar substitute to create a cookie that was just as delicious as the original, but without all the added sugar.
Kobe’s love for these cookies even extended to his teammates. Von Der Pool recalls that he would often bring them into the locker room to share with the other players, who were just as enthusiastic about them as he was. In fact, they became so popular that she started bringing them to every game!
The story of Kobe and his sugar-free chocolate chip cookies is just one example of how these treats have evolved over the years. While they may have started out as a niche dessert for those with dietary restrictions, they’ve now become a mainstream option for anyone looking to indulge without the added sugar.
Sugar-free chocolate chip cookies may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of classic desserts. But thanks to the evolution of sugar substitutes and the creativity of bakers and chefs, they’ve become a delicious alternative for anyone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth without the added sugar.
